The firm has received a number of awards for its double walkthrough attraction

Triotech, an award-winning creator of media-based attractions, has won a major industry accolade this week, with the Hive Break installation achieving first place in the Immersive Experience category of this year’s blooloop Innovation Awards.

The new attraction at China’s OCT Fabland Valley Resort is a three-in-one multisensory, immersive, and interactive encounter. This 12-minute, one-of-a-kind double walkthrough experience takes place in a futuristic fantasy world and offers two parallel pathways with intertwined storylines.

Both parallel routes are made up of three distinct zones, each featuring a different attraction, totalling more than 1,000 square metres. This features Triotech’s cutting-edge, revolutionary Illusio projection-mapping technology with 4-D interactivity that immerses participants in the action.

The experience also includes a completely themed and immersive wait line (home base) and transition zones.

Triotech CEO and founder Ernest Yale says: “That’s incredibly rewarding to receive another award for this attraction. It is a great recognition for the whole team and the hard work they have done to complete this attraction during COVID-19“.

Immersive storyline

The queuing area at Hive Break is modelled after an interplanetary port, where guests prepare for the adventure that awaits them. They are divided into two groups of sixteen before boarding. Depending on which shuttle they board, passengers either become Bounty Hunters or Space Pirates and experience a distinct side of the same interrelated story.

Triotech’s designs ensure that it is not a straightforward reproduction from one side to the other, but rather the creation of two parallel paths with intertwined stories. This unique concept has gained an overwhelmingly positive response from both guests and the park.

Each version of the experience, which can be created for venues around the world, is crafted to fit a chosen storyline. As a result, parks can select distinct attractions for each zone based on their IP and storytelling requirements resulting in a personalised visual experience with exciting gameplay and an intriguing plot. This allows the walkthrough to be tailored to the story. Each zone is linked to the next via themed hallways, allowing the attraction to be easily modified to the available area and design.

Industry’s top innovations

The blooloop Innovation Awards winners were announced as part of the blooloop Festival of Innovation, a three-day online event presented with AREA15. The Festival featured a range of industry experts including operators, manufacturers, suppliers and advisors sharing their insight into the trends and future of the attraction industry. Sessions can be watched on demand for free.
