Terunobu Fujimori

Director

Edo-Tokyo Museum

As director of the Edo-Tokyo Museum, Terunobu Fujimori has overseen a recent renovation of the institution. The museum reopened in March 2026 following its first major overhaul since opening in 1993. Under his leadership, the renovation improved access, provided better signage and reduced its carbon footprint through the adoption of solar power.

The Edo-Tokyo Museum tells the story of 400 years of Tokyo’s history and culture through artefacts, reconstructed models and interactive exhibits. The museum now blends technology into the experience, offering a multilingual audio-guide and screens projecting the skies of classical Edo and modern Tokyo.
