Brian Loo is senior director of operations development at Meow Wolf, the art collective that transformed into a multimillion-dollar, award-winning arts production company. He took on the role in 2020, following a year with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts as vice president of family experiences and over a decade with Disney.
He spent nearly nine years with Walt Disney Imagineering, first as a project control specialist and then as a producer. During this time, he led the guest experience design team and creative direction through the design phases, production and installation of projects such as Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. He worked on land-wide merchandise, food and beverage locations and area development at the Black Spire Outpost, as well as working on the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction. He was part of the team that was recognised with an IAAPA Brass Ring Award for the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge merchandise
“Brian is the team’s glue behind the curtains,” said one nominator. “You can’t find a better team shepherd and guardian than Brian, who is an exceptional producer, operations director, and champion for creatives. From Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to Meow Wolf’s Convergence Station in Denver, Brian has produced some of the world’s greatest experiences.
“By emphasizing collaboration, whether it be with local artists, vendors, or consultants, Meow Wolf has changed the way audiences of all ages and backgrounds consume and engage with art, thanks to Brian’s leadership.”
During his time with Meow Wolf, he worked on the company’s first audio description tour, which allows low-vision and blind guests to experience Meow Wolf Denver.
Convergence Station, the third permanent exhibition from Meow Wolf, opened in Denver, Colorado, in 2021, following the success of Meow Wolf’s House of Eternal Return in Santa Fe and Omega Mart at AREA15 in Las Vegas. The team promises a “journey of discovery into a surreal, science-fictional epic.”
