Page Thompson President, New Ventures Universal Destinations & Experiences

As president, new ventures at Universal Destinations & Experiences, Page Thompson is responsible for managing the relationship with the company’s licenced parks all over the world as well as the development of new resorts, experiences, and joint partnerships. He also has oversight of the company’s new formats, such as the planned Universal Kids Park in Frisco, Texas, which is expected to open in 2025.

Thompson commented: “We are excited about the opportunity to partner with the city of Frisco and Mayor Cheney as we work to bring this innovative, new concept to life designed specifically for a younger generation of Universal fans.”

Universal has also announced plans for Universal Horror Unleashed at Area15 in Las Vegas. Thompson told blooloop the decision to open the attraction is due to a “huge and growing demand for immersive experiences”, particularly horror-themed ones. Fans of Halloween Horror Nights can expect to see many similar offerings to those at Universal’s parks during Halloween, as well as new and innovative experiences.

Thompson previously served as president and chief operating officer – international at Universal Parks & Resorts, where he was responsible for the management of the company’s parks in Osaka, Japan and Beijing, which opened in 2021.

Before joining Universal, Thompson was EVP, strategic integration at NBCUniversal Media, where he introduced Comcast NBCUniversal’s Symphony programme which focussed on projects such as Despicable Me, Fast and Furious, Blacklist, and the Harry Potter theme park attractions.

He was president of the Golf Channel for 3 years, chairman of the communications committee of the golf industry’s 20/20 executive leadership group, and a member of the board of directors for the National Golf Foundation. His experience also includes positions at Comcast, General Cinema Theatres, DRD, Inc, and Pepsi-Cola Company.

Thompson was awarded his Master of Business Administration (MBA) by Harvard Business School, and earned a bachelor’s degree in politics from Princeton University.
