Sayan Gulino is CEO of Waterbom Bali, one of the first water parks in Indonesia. Waterbom Bali boasts 26 waterslides and five dining outlets across 5.1 hectares of tropical gardens. The slides are from WhiteWater, a leading water park manufacturer.
“Eco-tourism, sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint has always been the core of Waterbom Bali,” Gulino told blooloop. “We have consciously developed the water park to complement the natural environment, introducing business practices that reduce waste while protecting Bali’s natural resources.”

In September 2023, Waterbom Bali opened its new Oasis Gardens expansion – a 1.3-hectare landscaped area with new waterslides, lagoon pools and relaxation areas. “Our goal is to continuously enhance our guest’s experience within the park and innovate with environmentally sustainable developments, ensuring that Waterbom remains a must-visit destination in Bali, with a minimal ecological footprint,” Gulino said.
The expansion is the first phase of “several new updates to the park, which will excite guests and allow us to offer more variety and enjoyment to visitors”, he added. Waterbom Bali plans to open a new family-friendly area in 2024. It was also voted Asia’s top water park in the TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Awards 2022 and 2023.
“The park started in 1993. It was my father’s concept. He liked the entertainment value of water parks, but he always found them aesthetically ugly. And, generally, they are ugly: we’re breaking the mould,” Gulino said. “Rather than destroy Bali and its natural ways, he chose to build a waterslide park that is in a green space, building slides around the trees so no trees had to be cut, and no natural beauty had to be compromised.”
