UK theme park to welcome dogs for the first time

As the trend for pet-friendly visitor experiences gains traction, UK theme park Blackpool Pleasure Beach is introducing dog-friendly days.

Pet lovers can head to Pleasure Beach in Blackpool on Sundays as the resort has announced that it will welcome dogs for the first time.

The Lancashire theme park’s new ‘Dog’s Day Out’ initiative will allow guests to add a special dog entry pass to their booking.

At the park, water stations and unlimited treats will be available, as well as areas where people can relax with their dogs.

Pleasure Beach said it is allowing entry to canines to make days out more accessible for their owners, who may feel guilty for leaving their pets at home for long periods.

Amanda Thompson, CEO of Pleasure Beach Resort, said: “We know that so many of our guests see their dogs as part of the family, and leaving them behind for the day can be a real worry.

“Dog-friendly Sundays mean guests no longer have to choose between a great day out and doing what’s best for their pet.”

The initiative launches this Sunday (10 August) and will run throughout the month. If successful, the scheme will be extended through the rest of the year.

“We’ve always been a family park – family owned, for families – and with this latest step we can truly say we’re a destination for all,” Thompson added.

Last month, Blackpool Pleasure Beach shared a first-look concept video of its new £8.72 million swinging pendulum ride, set to be the UK‘s tallest of its kind.

Named Aviktas and opening next year, the attraction is a Gyro Swing by Intamin, a creator of record-breaking amusement rides.

“This ride will be colossal, daunting, exhilarating and an incredible addition to the town,” said Thompson.
