New coaster at Canada’s Wonderland also boasts nine inversions

Canada’s Wonderland has announced it is opening AlpenFury, Canada’s longest, tallest and fastest launch coaster, next year.

Designed by Premier Rides, AlpenFury will also boast nine inversions – more than any launch coaster in North America.

AlpenFury will be Canada’s Wonderland’s 19th roller coaster, and its fourth to interact with the park’s Wonder Mountain.

On AlpenFury, riders will be launched out of Wonder Mountain’s summit on a thrilling race spanning 1,000 metres across the theme park. The ride will reach speeds of 115 km/h.

AlpenFury is a world-class attraction, and we’re excited for the unique thrills it will offer our guests,” said Phil Liggett, general manager at Canada’s Wonderland.

“The combination of being blasted out of Wonder Mountain, and then racing through nine inversions one right after the other, is going to be an experience guests won’t soon forget.”

AlpenFury will be the signature attraction in a new themed area called Alpenfest. In this village, guests will attend a festival where they celebrate the mystical union of fire and ice.

Canada’s Wonderland is now owned and operated by Six Flags Entertainment Corporation after Cedar Fair’s merger with Six Flags was completed last month.

Other parks in the combined company’s portfolio to announce new attractions this month are Kings Dominion in central Virginia and Kings Island in Ohio.

The latter is opening Rapterra, the world’s tallest and longest launched wing coaster, next year. The former is adding Ohio’s first dual-racing water coaster, called RiverRacers, to the Soak City water park.
