The park’s rides and attractions are inspired by films such as Ghostbusters, Jumanji and Zombieland.

Sony Pictures Entertainment and Thailand-based attractions developer Amazon Falls are opening the world’s first Columbia Pictures ‘water theme park’ on 11 October 2022.

Columbia Pictures’ Aquaverse is located in the seaside town of Bangsaray, close to Pattaya and Bangkok.

The park’s water and land-based rides and attractions are inspired by movies such as Ghostbusters, Jumanji, Bad Boys, Zombieland, The Emoji Movie, Surf’s Up and Hotel Transylvania.

Aquaverse is home to themed zones, live shows, immersive entertainment, interactive props and unique sets, as well as dining outlets and retail locations.

Guests will be “transported beyond the big screen and into the worlds of their favorite films, experiencing epic adventures alongside their favorite characters”, according to a press release.

“Columbia Pictures’ Aquaverse is the next step in Sony Pictures’ larger global strategy to grow and expand location-based entertainment [LBE] by utilizing its globally known film and TV brands,” said Jeffrey Godsick, EVP of global partnerships and brand management and head of LBE at Sony Pictures.

“We are creating opportunities for all audiences around the world to immerse themselves deeper into our stories through water parks, touring exhibitions, and theme park attractions.”

In the Ghostbusters zone, attractions include ‘Proton Stream’, ‘Slimer Speed Racer’ and ‘Ghost Trap Adventure’. Rides in the Jumanji area are ‘Viper’, ‘Jaguar Mountain’ and ‘Jungle Stampede’.

‘Zombie Chase’, ‘The Beast’ and ‘Double Tap’ can be found in the Zombieland zone, and the Hotel Transylvania area offers the largest water play structure in Southeast Asia.

“Alongside our unique rides and attractions, we look forward to forging new partnerships with top accommodation, technology, retail and F&B partners as we curate an unmatched lifestyle experience that will resonate with all our visitors.”

Elsewhere, Japan’s Ghibli Park is opening later this year, and a group of Paramount-branded theme parks are rising in Asia.
