The Magic of Disney Animation is part of a reimagined land

Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World is reimagining one of its lands to offer a new Disney animation-inspired experience.

Opening in 2026, the new area is named The Walt Disney Studios and is set to replace the current Animation Courtyard land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Its centrepiece is a new attraction called The Magic of Disney Animation, which will be housed in a building reminiscent of the Roy E. Disney Animation Building in Burbank, California, complete with Mickey’s iconic sorcerer’s hat.

Currently home to the Star Wars Launch Bay walkthrough attraction, the building will be transformed into a family-friendly space where guests can explore and draw.

Highlights within The Magic of Disney Animation will include portraits coming to life before visitors’ eyes, a short film with a twist, and the chance to sketch a character.

Beyond the walls of The Magic of Disney Animation, the entire surrounding courtyard is being reimagined to become The Walt Disney Studios, based on several Disney studio lot buildings in Burbank.

And for young aspiring animators, the Drawn to Wonderland playground features an oversized flower garden with musical instruments, a Mad Tea Party playset, and a Tulgey Wood exploration area, all inspired by the original Alice in Wonderland concept art by Mary Blair.

The studio grounds and courtyard area will also offer green spaces and F&B outlets.

Disney animation artists and Walt Disney Imagineers are now working together on the new attraction, which launches next year.

To make way for the transformation, Animation Courtyard and the Disney Jr. Play and Dance! show are closing from 25 September.

The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure and the Walt Disney Presents gallery will remain open during construction.

Earlier this year, Walt Disney Imagineering teased the new Monsters, Inc. coaster coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios as part of a new land called Monstropolis.
