Walt Disney World Resort is following Universal Orlando’s lead, updating its policy for face masks and making them optional for fully vaccinated guests in both indoor and outdoor locations from February 17.
“Face coverings will be optional for fully vaccinated guests in both outdoor and indoor locations,” the Disney World website states. “We expect guests who are not fully vaccinated to continue wearing face coverings in all indoor locations, including indoor attractions and theaters.”
“Face coverings will still be required by all guests (ages 2 and up) on enclosed Disney transportation, including Disney buses, monorails, and Disney Skyliner,” it adds.
Disneyland Resort in California has also updated its policy for face coverings, which are required for unvaccinated guests in all indoor locations but not for fully vaccinated visitors, effective February 17.
Disneyland updates face mask policy

“Face coverings are required for all guests, regardless of vaccination status, in certain indoor settings including Disney shuttles and in health settings, such as in first aid,” Disneyland’s website says.
Disney’s policy update comes after Universal Orlando Resort made face coverings optional for fully vaccinated indoors or outdoors. Unvaccinated visitors are only “encouraged” to wear masks.
“We are updating our policy for face coverings based on local trends and conditions,” said Universal Orlando’s website.
In more news, Disney has been granted a patent for a ‘virtual-world simulator’ that would allow multiple guests to experience a 3D virtual world without VR headsets or AR-enabled devices.
The technology will enable Disney to simulate a digital world within a real-world theme park.
