Expanded land to offer two new attractions

Disneyland has submitted plans for preliminary work for its Avengers Campus expansion, which includes two new themed attractions.

Disney California Adventure is set to begin backstage preparations for the expansion of Avengers Campus, which will double in size and offer two new attractions – Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab. Construction on these will start in 2025.

Via the Orange County Register, Disneyland has submitted its plan to the city of Anaheim for the Avengers Campus prep work that is currently under review, city officials say.

This plan describes utilities, temporary trailers and parking lots in the backstage area behind Avengers Campus that would be affected by the project.

Avengers Campus to double in size

The Avengers Campus development is not part of the recently approved $1.9 billion DisneylandForward plan, according to city officials.

As for the expansion’s new rides, Avengers: Infinity Defense is described as a multi-world adventure, with riders travelling to iconic locations such as Asgard and Wakanda.

On Stark Flight Lab, guests are seated in two-person pods before being grabbed by a robot arm and whirled around in a simulated flight.

The Avengers Campus expansion was announced earlier this year at Disney’s D23 fan event. Also revealed at D23 for Disney California Adventure were the first-ever Coco ride in a Disney park, and an innovative new land inspired by the second Avatar film.

Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney’s theme parks and experiences division, said at D23: “Disney Experiences is embarking on an accelerated path of ambitious growth and innovation.

“With so many great Disney stories to tell, we’re excited to bring an unprecedented number of new projects to life in the near future.”

D’Amaro added: “Today we unveiled an extensive slate of new experiences that only Disney can deliver. Work is well underway on all of the new projects we announced, and fans will start to see them come to life in the near future.”

Disneyland opened the world’s first Avengers Campus in 2021. This was followed by a second Avengers Campus at Disneyland Paris in 2022.
