New coaster is part of a multimillion-pound investment plan

Drayton Manor Resort has announced it is working with Intamin, a creator of record-breaking amusement rides, on a new family-friendly thrill coaster.

The UK theme park told blooloop the new lift and launch coaster will open in 2024 as part of a multimillion-pound investment plan, continuing the park’s development under the ownership of the Looping Group.

The upcoming ride, which was teased earlier this year, will be the first coaster installed at Drayton Manor since 2011.

New lift and launch coaster to open in 2024

“We’re thrilled to announce that we’re bringing a new family thrill lift and launch roller coaster to Drayton Manor Resort for 2024, and we’re delighted to be working with Intamin on such an exciting project,” said Victoria Lynn, managing director at Drayton Manor.

“This ride is a key part of the incredibly exciting investments coming to the park over the next few years. We can’t wait for our guests to experience this attraction, which we believe will be one of the best family thrill roller coasters in the UK.”

Speaking to BirminghamLive in January, Lynn said of the new addition, “We have already broken ground. Part of that was removing Apocalypse to pave the way.” She also said guests “are not going to be disappointed once they see what is going in its place”.

Drayton Manor Resort’s new Vikings land opened in May last year. It is home to the Thor and Loki thrill rides, the new Walhalla restaurant, and Viking-themed hotel rooms.

Drayton Manor was purchased by the Looping Group in 2020. Later, the resort unveiled a new look as part of its future plans.

The rebrand “frames the future direction of the resort perfectly, with a shift in focus over the coming years to capture a more diverse family thrill audience, with new rides, attractions and immersive experiences that cater to guests of all ages”, Lynn said.
