Efteling‘s new hotel is set to open in 2024 as the largest accommodation offering within the Dutch theme park.

Efteling has unveiled plans for a new hotel as well as a new themed area with an indoor attraction, with both projects scheduled to open in 2024 as part of the ‘World of Efteling 2030’ expansion.

Efteling’s new accommodation will be located adjacent to the main entrance. It will be the largest hotel within the Dutch theme park, with 143 rooms, two restaurants and a spa. Work will begin this year.

The new themed area will be situated on the current site of the Haunted Castle, or ‘Spookslot’. It will be anchored by the new indoor attraction. Work also begins on these additions this year.

“Despite the temporary closure, we do not want to stand still but use this period to prepare ourselves for the future,” said CEO of Efteling, Fons Jurgens. “Last year, the ‘World of Efteling’ development plan was adopted, which has given us a framework for the future and a possible expansion outside the current boundaries of the Efteling theme park.”

“However, the focus for the time being lies on developments within the park itself, which involve less financial risks than a much more challenging expansion beyond the current park boundaries,” he added. “These investments for the next two years fit our vision 2030 and focus on continuity and maintaining our independence and quality.”

“This decision was not made overnight – investing in these unprecedented times remains tense. Nevertheless, it is important to look ahead in these times and to ensure that Efteling remains a World of Wonders for young and old,” Jurgens said.

The hotel will join two existing hotels at Efteling and two holiday villages. Part of the attraction’s parking lot has been set up as a construction site. Underground work will be carried out in the coming months.
