Genting Malaysia has started conducting technical rehearsals at Genting SkyWorlds, an outdoor theme park at Resorts World Genting (RWG) in Malaysia.
“We are conducting technical rehearsals for employees and selected guests,” a spokesperson for Genting Malaysia told The Edge, adding that the opening date for Genting SkyWorlds will be announced in due time.
Maybank Investment Bank Research analyst Yin Shao Yang told the publication that he expects Genting SkyWorlds to attract three million visitors annually.

“[Genting Malaysia] expects Genting SkyWorlds to drive RWG visitor arrivals to 30 million in the long term while we are a tad more conservative at 26 million to 27 million per annum (pre-Covid-19 high: 24 million),” he said.
In addition, TA Securities Research analyst Tan Kam Meng said he expects Genting SkyWorlds to open to the public as early as this month.
“Next catalyst would likely be the reopening of the international border or establishment of a travel bubble, which is expected to be in December,” he said.
Genting SkyWorlds will feature nine themed lands inspired by original IP, as well as 20th Century Studios brands. These include Ice Age, Rio, Epic, Robots, Night at the Museum, Independence Day and Planet of the Apes.

“Right now, our priority is ensuring we play our part in safeguarding the health and safety of our employees and guests, even if that means delaying the opening for a short while,” Greg Pearn, head of theme parks and experiences at RWG, said in August.
“Myself and the team are confident the good times aren’t too far away and we can look up to brighter days when we open the gates to our incredible theme park and present the unique, fun and amazing adventures Genting SkyWorlds has to offer.
“What we have created is extraordinary and definitely going to be worth the wait!”
Genting Malaysia reportedly delayed the launch of Genting SkyWorlds until December 2021 earlier this year.
