GreenWood Forest Park sold for an undisclosed figure

Green Wood Forest Park

The North Wales family eco-attraction, GreenWood Forest Park, has been bought by Continuum Attractions.

GreenWood Forest Park is renowned for its ecological approach to play and fun.  The North Wales attraction encourages children to interact with the environment, building huts, walking barefoot on special trails and exploring nature.

Stephen and Andrea Bristow set up GreenWood Forest Park in 1993.   The park was built on a piece of grazing land near Bethel, between Bangor and Caernarfon.  The setting is stunning, with views to Snowdonia.

Over 24 years they transformed a set of fields into a thriving business that now attracts around 150,000 visitors a year.

The park is a TripAdvisor UK Top 10 Attractions that has been voted Best Family Attraction in North Wales for six years as well as being a North Wales Tourist Board Green and Innovation Award-winner. North Wales was voted 4th best place to visit globally by Lonely Planet.

GreenWood Forest Park has the UK’s only solar powered water ride and the world’s first people-powered roller coaster.

The Bristows have decided to retire so the park has been sold, for an undisclosed figure, to Continuum Attractions, with the sale completed on 17th July 2017.  The York-based company has a portfolio of eight family themed attractions across the UK.  These include The Emmerdale Studio Experience in Leeds, the Emirates Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth, and The Royal Mint Experience in Llantrisant, near Cardiff.

“GreenWood Forest Park is a wonderful place to visit, it also has a fantastic team in place, which is delivering that success,” says Juliana Delaney, CEO of Continuum Attractions.

“It offers a great visit for delighted and loyal guests. It also champions green and sustainability issues, and manages its environmental impact.”

“We are very proud to take on the GreenWood legacy,” she continues. “We believe in the future of tourism in North Wales in particular.”

Kevin Smith, Group Attractions Director commented “Continuum Attractions has been keen to expand into outdoor, family experiences and GreenWood will offer a fantastic opportunity for us to do so”.

“North Wales is a fantastic place to visit, not only is it an area of outstanding beauty but as the staycation continues the area is becoming a thriving hub for holiday makers bother national and international”.
