Universal Studios Hollywood has announced an opening date for its new Hello Kitty-themed cafe and Sanrio shop at Universal CityWalk.

Located adjacent to each other, the Hello Kitty and Friends Cafe and Sanrio Smile Shop will both open tomorrow, 6 September.

The Sanrio-themed menu at the Hello Kitty and Friends Cafe includes a Hello Kitty-themed mousse dome, as well as mousse domes inspired by Hello Kitty’s friends. Also on offer will be cakes, churros, macaroons and Hello Kitty-shaped sugar cookies.

Drinks will include Hello Kitty and Kuromi-themed iced teas, My Melody and Tuxedosam-themed lemonades, a Chococat frozen mocha, and a Keroppi matcha latte.

Currently, there are Hello Kitty cafes in California’s Irvine Spectrum Center, and in Las Vegas and Vanvouver.

New experiences at Universal Studios

At Universal Studios Hollywood, guests can meet Hello Kitty outside the Animation Studio Store on the theme park’s upper lot. The shop has a section for Hello Kitty and Sanrio merchandise.

Earlier this year, Universal Studios Hollywood opened its new Super Mario-themed Power Up Cafe. The F&B outlet serves menu items themed to Power-ups in the video game like the Super Mushroom and Fire Flower.

Meanwhile, Universal Studios Hollywood is opening a new Fast & Furious-themed coaster called ‘Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift’ in 2026. It will be the park’s first-ever high-speed outdoor coaster.
