A new amusement park costing more than 500m pesos ($26.8m) is under development as part of the Parque Las Antenas shopping centre in the east of Mexico City.

The 27,000 square metre park will be known as Kataplum and will consist of 31 attractions as well as 13 food kiosks, two casual dinning restaurants, a cafeteria and an auditorium with capacity for 60 people. Approximately 40% of the park will be roofed to protect visitors from the weather.

The attractions will be split into three areas, children, family and adventurer. The area for children will include a carousel and bumper cars. In the family and adventure areas will be go-karts, a starflyer and a roller coaster, among other attractions.

Developed by Grupo Diniz, it is estimated the park will generate 1.2 million annual visitors.

Antonio Quevedo, Executive President of Grupo Diniz, said: “We had an adjustment to the investment in recent months, closing at 550m pesos. We estimate that the access ticket has a price of 20 pesos, however, each game will have a different price.”

Prices will vary depending on the number of visitors to the park. Busier days will see higher prices, with lower ones on quieter days. The park is expected to open in July 2018, ready for the summer holidays.
