Legacy Entertainment, a leading theme park and resort design company, has revealed that more than half a million guests have visited one of its most recent theme park projects, one hundred days since its debut. This figure equates to roughly one in every seven residents currently residing in Busan itself.

Chief operating officer for Legacy Entertainment, Barry Kemper, says: “It goes without saying that we are thrilled for our friends and partners at Lotte World with the remarkable attendance at the new park in just 100 days.

“Leading up to the opening, it was unclear what impacts the pandemic and dearth of international tourism might have had on the park’s performance. Fortunately, the local population showed up en-masse, and the park now has a solid foundation upon which it can grow.”

Designed by Legacy Entertainment in cooperation with Lotte World, the theme park is the anchor destination of Busan’s Osiria Tourism Complex, an expansive 900-acre development which is raising the city’s profile as an international player within the tourism sector.

Park guests will find new attractions this summer season, including a state-of-the-art Roller Coaster Restaurant. Differentiating itself from traditional food outlets, food is supplied to diners through an elaborate system of roller coaster-style tracks. The concept has seen increasing popularity at popular European theme parks such as Alton Towers, Europa-Park and Futuroscope, and will now debut in Asia at Lotte World Adventure Busan.

Ogre’s Flume is this year’s major ride addition to Lotte Busan, a new headliner as one of the site’s largest attractions. The ABC Rides-supplied Log Flume is themed on ‘Ogre’s Magic Club’, a popular Korean fairy tale.

Intricately woven through the park’s arrival zone, the ride’s route culminates with a climactic drop serving as a focal point for visitors entering the park. Legacy Entertainment also designed the friendly Ogre mascot characters, first introduced to Lotte World’s Seoul park during the Underland expansion of 2012.

Lotte World is already in the planning stage with additional attractions to maximise capacity and keep up with demand.

Kemper says: “As any veteran in our industry can attest, successfully launching a brand-new theme park, even in the best of times, is one of the most challenging tasks in the world. We commend the entire Lotte team for their professionalism and dedication along this perilous journey. The result has been a park that will delight visitors young and old for decades to come.”

Legacy Entertainment has also been involved in the design of Vietnam’s largest aquarium, The Sea Shell, containing more than 20 million litres of water.
