The firm is continuing its established relationship with the Korean leisure operator

Legacy Entertainment, a leading theme park and resort design company, has confirmed the opening dates of its latest key client project. The firm, which is currently working on a series of major international projects, assisted with the park design, marking its ninth creative partnership with Lotte World.

The 25-acre Lotte World Adventure Busan Theme Park in South Korea will host its soft opening period from 17-20 March, followed by an official opening for members of the public on 31 March 2022.

Legacy’s managing director for Korea, Yaeli Chung says “For over thirty years, Lotte World has set the gold standard for family entertainment in South Korea. Our entire team feels very fortunate and humbled to help Lotte World write its next chapter in Busan.”

Fresh perspective for new park

The first Lotte World park, found in Seoul, opened in 1989. The indoor attraction originally focussed on geography-based areas which strove to recreate the ambience of various countries such as the UK, France and Germany.

The new park deviates from this formula with six immersive realms based on fantasy themes, namely Joyful Meadows, Rainbow Springs, Tinker Falls, Queen Lorry’s Royal Garden, Underland and Wonder Woods.

Signature attractions at the new park will include the Giant Digger launched coaster and Giant Splash Super Splash by Mack, Giant Swing by Zamperla, and Ogre’s Flume by ABC Rides.

Lotte World will also feature Korea’s first Roller Coaster Restaurant, an innovative dining concept found in European parks such as Alton Towers and Europa-Park.

“Warm and inviting”

Chung continues: “Working closely with the team from Lotte World, we aimed to redefine what an Asian regional theme park can be. All across Asia, countless theme parks have popped up in recent years, [some of which have been] drab and forgettable.

“This will not be the case at Lotte World Adventure Busan. Instead, guests who attend Busan will find an emotionally warm and inviting garden park sporting a brilliant layout, a perfectly balanced attraction program, and unprecedented integration of attractions within their environments. Guests will never want to leave.”

Other major projects include the award-winning Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park, recently named “Most Popular Attraction” for 2021 at this year’s China Cultural Tourism Innovation and Development Forum.
