LEGOLAND® Florida has announced a major park expansion for summer 2013 based on a new LEGO product line, LEGO® Legends of ChimaTM. The World of Chima, presented by Cartoon Network, will include a highly-interactive water ride experience, the Quest for CHI; an action-packed SpeedorzTM Arena; a new 4D movie and the chance to meet characters from Chima.
The LEGO® Legends of ChimaTM brand includes a major new LEGO product line and an animated television series to air on Cartoon Network, as well as multiple interactive video games and apps. The new LEGO product line is the highest tested new theme by LEGO in the last 12 years with a strong storyline about animal tribes in a magical world.

Adrian Jones, LEGOLAND Florida General Manager, said, “This is the first time a theme park has invested in a major expansion concurrently with the rollout of a new brand and product line, and it was an easy decision based on how well LEGO Legends of Chima has been received by children and those who are young at heart around the world. This is also a reflection of the overall success of the park, which has already enabled us to open a new Water Park and build multiple new attractions during the past 18 months.”
- Guests will enter the World of Chima through a themed stone and moss covered entrance leading on to the Lion Temple and a 45-foot tall floating Mount Cavora before joining the Lion Tribe in a battle to recover the stolen CHI orbs. Attractions include:
- The Quest for CHI is an interactive, family-friendly water ride at the heart of the World of Chi. On board a watercraft, guests use water cannons to help Laval the Lion Prince defeat Cragger the Crocodile King in an interactive experience. The adventure passes through highly themed settings of the animal tribes. At the SpeedorzTM Arena guests can build LEGO Speedorz and compete against other players in group challenges over a series of obstacles to win the precious supply of CHI.
- The LEGO Chima 4D Movie Xperience is an immersive new 4D movie.
- Guests can also meet Laval the Lion Prince and Cragger the Crocodile King at daily character meet and greet sessions.
Cartoon Network is the presenting partner of The World of Chima and the Official Kids Cable Network. Cartoon Network will enjoy a high profile within the LEGOLAND Florida during summer, including screens placed around the park showing other content from the network.

We are always looking to expand the Cartoon Network brand to reach children outside the world of television and what better way to do that than by bringing the Legends of Chima to life at a theme park.”
The World of Chima expansion at LEGOLAND Florida has already delivered benefits to the Florida economy by supporting nearly 150 construction jobs (85% from Central Florida). Once The World of Chima opens around an additional 50 jobs will be created at LEGOLAND Florida.
