The Swedish theme park, Liseberg, has been named Europe’s fourth best amusement park in the European Star Awards and received awards for two coasters.

Liseberg won the fourth best amusement park in the European Star Awards. Balder was named the best wooden roller coaster and Helix won third place in the steel roller coaster category.

Liseberg is the only Swedish amusement park on the top 10 list.

“It is honorable that Sweden and Liseberg are so well international. We are committed to providing our guests with world-class experiences and I see the award as a sign that we have chosen the right way, “says Daniel Lindberg, Regional Manager of the park.

“For a long time, Liseberg has deliberately committed to providing coolest ride experiences of the best quality, as Balder and Helix are examples of. But I am already excited about how next year’s major attraction news – Valkyria – will be received,” said Lindberg.

Beating the Swedish park, Europa Park in Germany was named the best theme park in Europe, with Portaventura (Spain), and Disneyland Paris (France) taking second and third, respectively.

Liseberg is an amusement park located in Gothenburg, Sweden, that opened in 1923. It is one of the most visited amusement parks in Scandinavia

The CEO of the amusement park, Andreas Anderson, told Blooloop earlier this week: “Liseberg will never be a theme park in the way some others are. As we expand, we are working with themed environments, but we are doing it with a light touch. We are never going to be a Western themed park, a space park or whatever.

“The overall theme of the park is that it is a pleasure garden, an urban escape with the rides, greenery etc. As we develop the park we are working with our heritage but trying to refocus and upgrade the environments that we have.”
