Liseberg has reported both record profit and turnover for 2022, with Sweden’s leading amusement park set to celebrate its 100th anniversary this year.
The park’s annual accounts for 2022 reveal record profit and turnover. Net sales came to €130 million, and profit before tax was €21 million. Per a press release, this significantly exceeded the company’s expectations.
“We have recovered faster than we dared hope for. With 2022 behind us, we can close the door on the pandemic and look towards the future,” said Andreas Andersen, CEO of Liseberg.
Liseberg continues to limit attendance
In 2020, Liseberg was completely closed. In 2021, the park operated with restrictions. Last year, however, Lisberg welcomed 2.5 million guests during the summer, Halloween and Christmas seasons, an increase of 1 million visitors compared to 2021.
In 2022, the theme park continued to cap its attendance. “Limiting the number of guests at any given time resulted in guests staying longer and enjoying more of what the park has to offer,” Andersen added.
“Increased sales per guest in the park compensated for the lower sales of admissions and ride passes.”
Despite the park’s financial success in 2022, Liseberg has lower expectations for the year ahead and is “taking a cautious approach” due to “the current economic uncertainty”, Andersen said.

“Liseberg has weathered economic downturns well in the past, and we have confidence in our investment plans and business model,” he added.
Liseberg’s anniversary celebrations begin on 22 April with the launch of the new ‘Luna’ coaster, part of a new themed area called Luna Park.
The first phase of Liseberg’s €10m Luna Park, including the family-friendly Turbo and Tempus rides, opened last year.
Also making its debut as part of the 100th anniversary is the Liseberg Grand Curiosa Hotel, which will be followed by the launch of the €110m Oceana Water World in 2024.
