Iowa’s new Lost Island theme park gets opening date

The 159-acre Lost Island theme park in Waterloo is home to five themed ‘realms’.

Lost Island Waterpark’s new Lost Island theme park in Waterloo, Iowa is opening to visitors on 18 June. The park was originally due to open on 10 June.

“Creating a brand new theme park from ground up has been a huge undertaking,” said Lori Thureson, a spokesperson for Lost Island (via Des Moines Register).

“As much as we look forward to sharing it with the public, these delays are out of our control,” Thureson added.

The 159-acre Lost Island attraction is home to five themed ‘realms’, including Mura (fire), Yuta (earth), Awa (water), Udara (air) and Tamariki (spirit).

Mura features a pendulum ride called Mura Fury, as well as a the Rokava ride. It also offers the Shaman’s Curse ride and a volcano-themed ride called Volkanu by Sally Dark Rides.

Lost Island features magical rides and attractions

Awa is home to the Awaati Battle interactive ride and Akua Maze water maze. It also boasts rides such as Eeki Eeki Escape, Zulawa Wave, and a Ferris wheel called Alzanu’s Eye.

Attractions within the Udara area include Amara Aviators and Dream Spinner. In addition, the land features the Nopuko air coaster and Skyborne drop tower.

Yuta’s offerings include the Matugani launch coaster, an archaeological dig site called Pengali Ruins, and Yuta Falls log ride.

Tamari is designed for younger visitors, with family-friendly attractions such as Ohu Hoppers and Mama Pezaki, as well as the mini Lokolo coaster and Tuka Tumbler Ferris wheel.

Elsewhere, the new Mattel Adventure Park in Glendale, Arizona will feature brands including Barbie, Masters of the Universe and Mattel Games when it opens next year.
