The Mattel theme park will feature attractions based on Hot Wheels, Thomas & Friends and Barbie.

Epic Resort Destinations has revealed more information about the new Mattel Adventure Park, due to open in Glendale, Arizona in 2024.

The world’s first Mattel theme park will feature rides and attractions inspired by American toy brands such as Hot Wheels, Thomas & Friends and Barbie.

‘Thomas Adventure Train: Treasure Hunt’ is a real-life electric Thomas the Tank Engine train ride, while ‘Hot Wheels Unleashed 4D Ride’ is a 4D motion attraction that puts visitors in custom-designed Hot Wheels cars.

The park will also include two Hot Wheels roller coasters, ‘Hot Wheels Twin Mill Racer ‘and Hot Wheels Boneshaker: The Ultimate Ride’.

Mattel theme park to open in 2023

Mattel had previously announced a Thomas & Friends indoor theme park, which is called ‘Thomas & Friends World of Sodor’.

“We share a pioneering vision in collaborating with Mattel to develop a world-class, primarily indoor theme park destination,” said Epic Resort Destinations president Mark Cornell.

Barbie-themed experiences include the Barbie Beach House, which will offer the ‘Barbie Rooftop’ dining facility and ‘Dream Closet Experience’. This will bring Barbie to life using state-of-the-art hologram technology.

An immersive mini-golf experience will boast an oversized Pictionary game board, a UNO climbing structure and the Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots. The iconic Castle Grayskull from Masters of the Universe will become a laser tag arena.

“We have spared no expense to bring these iconic brands to life in ways that will delight visitors of all ages for years to come,” Cornell said earlier this year.

“Mattel Adventure Park will be even more engaging and entertaining at launch, with the addition of these iconic Mattel brand experiences,” added Julie Freeland, senior director of global location-based entertainment at Mattel.

Mattel and Kilburn Live recently opened an immersive attraction called ‘World of Barbie’, home to human-sized playsets including Barbie’s iconic dreamhouse.
