Attendance at Six Flags theme parks increased this summer, driven by promotions, following weather-related difficulties earlier this year.
Six Flags, the largest regional amusement park operator in North America, has released a summer attendance update covering its performance through Labor Day.
After weather-related challenges in the second quarter of this year, Six Flags experienced increased visitor numbers during the summer season.
The company said it welcomed 17.8 million guests over the nine weeks ended 31 August, a 2 percent increase from same period in 2024.
Additionally, Six Flags saw a 3 percent increase in attendance during the four weeks ended 31 August, compared to the same four-week period last year.
"We are very encouraged by the strong rebound in attendance and heightened demand for our parks as the summer progressed," said Six Flags' president and CEO Richard Zimmerman, who is stepping down by the end of this year.

He added, "This improving demand is more consistent with our expectations entering 2025, underscoring the strength of our portfolio and significant benefits of our strategic priorities – including targeted investments in thrilling new rides and attractions, upgrades to food and beverage offerings, and sharpened execution around the guest experience.
"It’s clear that our strategy is resonating with consumers and is driving renewed, positive momentum as we enter the important fall season headlined by our highly popular Halloween-themed events."

Six Flags' 2026 season pass programme "is off to a strong start", Zimmerman said.
He also said the company has "made smart investments since completing the merger [with Cedar Fair] more than a year ago".
Although attendance was up this summer, revenue for the nine-week period was down 2 percent.
As Six Flags rebounds, the company is now launching its biggestHalloweenseason to date, with new experiences inspired byThe Strangers, The Conjuring Universe, and Blumhouse’s first original Spanish-language horror film.
