Ghibli Park shares first look at redesigned Catbus from My Neighbor Totoro

The reimagined Catbus will be found in Ghibli Park’s My Neighbor Totoro-themed playground.

Ghibli Park, Studio Ghibli’s new theme park, has shared a first look at its redesigned Catbus from My Neighbor Totoro, which will be located within a playground at Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse.

Studio Ghibli shared images of the theme park's Catbus on Twitter. "Children can go inside or climb up and play," Studio Ghibli wrote.


Ghibli Park's My Neighbor Totoro-themed playground will also include a replica of Satsuki and Mei’s house, as well as a giant camphor tree.

Written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and animated by Studio Ghibli, My Neighbor Totoro premiered in 1988.

Five themed lands feature at Ghibli Park. These include Ghibli’s Giant Warehouse, Mononoke Village and Valley of Witches, which is based on Kiki’s Delivery Service and Howl’s Moving Castle.

Also on offer will be the My Neighbor Totoro-themed Dondoko Forest and Hill of Youth, home to attractions from Howl’s Moving Castle and Castle in the Sky. 

Studio Ghibli theme park opens this year

Studio Ghibli’s theme park is set to open Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse, Dondoko Forest and Hill of Youth on 1 November 2022. Mononoke Village and Valley of Witches are due to launch in fall 2023 and March 2024, respectively. 

Last month, Ghibli Park announced theticket pricesfor its first three lands. The park’s Castle in the Sky-style elevator toweropened earlier this year.

The $323 millionattractionis located in the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park. It is expected to attract around 1.8 million visitors each year.
