The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), a non-profit representing compelling places and experiences worldwide, has started the search for nominees for its acclaimed TEA Masters programme.
The TEA Masters of Their Craft program acknowledges the achievements of a carefully selected group of individuals in a wide range of disciplines including artists, craftspeople, engineers, producers and writers. Previous winners have all had outstanding careers and have made significant and long-lasting contributions to the themed entertainment sector through industry-leading innovation, leadership, and expertise.
The TEA Masters is different to the Buzz Price Award in that it celebrates achievements and a world-class status in specific disciplines, as opposed to general industry skills and leadership talent.
This year’s slate
The TEA is looking for nomination recommendations, inviting individuals to submit names of those who fulfil the criteria to become a prospective TEA Master. They should share appropriate stories and tell the TEA why that person deserves to be a winner of the accolade. People can also nominate themselves if they are fulfilling the criteria.
New additions to the TEA Masters slate are chosen each year by a committee of previous TEA Masters winners. The final selection is then reviewed and approved by the TEA International Board.
The TEA says: “Celebrate someone amazing – nominate a Master. They are the quiet legends, the creators, the solvers, the mentors. Experts in design, technology, project management, finance – dozens of individual professionals who represent the themed entertainment industry at its best.”
More than just a title, the TEA Masters provides an invitation for individuals to inspire future generations of themed entertainment professionals. Those who receive the honour will agree to partake in education and mentoring projects to help students and fellow professionals develop skills, advance careers, and continue the industry’s international standards of excellence.
Nominations criteria
Nominees must have a minimum of two decades’ experience in their discipline, holding a portfolio of projects spanning their career that demonstrates consistency in quality and execution.
The TEA adds: “TEA Masters define and epitomize the highest standards of their discipline. They can communicate their craft with passion and are generous with their time and talents, eager to use their knowledge to create new experiences of the highest calibre while always pushing the limits.”
A small selection of industry members is restricted from entering, including members of the TEA Masters Selection Committee, the TEA International Board of Directors, and recipients of the Buzz Price Thea Award.
Get involved
Nominations opened for the awards at the beginning of April and will close on 1 June 2022. Successful TEA Master nominees for the year will be announced in September, followed by the induction of the latest Masters during a ceremony at the SATE 2022 Conference in Las Vegas, US.
