Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is a steel coaster with a musical twist

Universal Orlando has announced it will close its Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster this summer “to make way for a new experience”.

Via the Universal Orlando website, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit will permanently close at Universal Studios Florida on 18 August.

More details on the replacement attraction will be made available by Universal Orlando at a later date.

Opened in 2009, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is a steel coaster providing a musical experience. As guests board the attraction, they can pick a song to listen to as they ride.

With the music playing, riders climb towards the sky at a 90-degree angle before the first drop and speeds of up to 65 mph.

Universal Studios Florida is also home to coasters such as Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, Revenge of the Mummy, and the new Trolls’ Trollercoaster.

In more news, Universal Orlando is now a four-park destination in Florida, as Epic Universe opened at the resort late last month.

Coasters on offer at Epic Universe include Starfall Racers, the park’s most thrilling coaster; Mine-Cart Madness, a unique family-friendly coaster; Curse of the Werewolf, a spinning coaster; and Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, another family coaster.

Epic Universe is Universal’s largest park in the US, and the most ambitious theme park ever created by Universal Destinations and Experiences.
