Universal Orlando Resort has debuted a new Mardi Gras-themed tribute store at Universal Studios Florida to mark 25 years of the Mardi Gras celebration. The retailtainment attraction takes guests through New Orleans.

Alongside the spectacular nighttime parade, live concerts and Cajun-style cuisine, the theme park is now offering a Mardi Gras-themed retailtainment experience.

The immersive tribute shop is located close to the French Quarter inside the New York area of Universal Studios Florida.

The store features photo opportunities and specially-designed Universal Orlando Mardi Gras merchandise.

As guests enter the tribute store, they will find themselves in a dusty, forgotten jazz hall as ghostly trumpets play throughout the room.

They will then arrive in a cemetery-style room with eerie tombs and statues, inspired by New Orleans’ famous Lafayette Cemetery.

Next up, guests will make their way to the bayou of New Orleans, surrounded by the swamp, shacks and the sounds of the water.

Merchandise at the Mardi Gras tribute store includes unique masks, themed apparel, voodoo doll charms, hand-painted skulls, skull walking sticks and collectible cups.

The shop is now open to visitors during park hours at Universal Studios Florida. It will remain open until the end of Mardi Gras on April 2.

In more news, Universal Orlando Resort’s major theme park project, Universal’s Epic Universe, will include a Super Nintendo World when it opens in 2023.

Epic Universe is also tipped to feature rides and attractions based on How to Train Your Dragon, The Secret Life of Pets, and Harry Potter.

Super Nintendo World is heading to several Universal theme parks. It is opening first in summer 2020 at Universal Studios Japan, in time for Tokyo 2020.

The expansion will merge the real world and video games, with guests able to use a smartphone app alongside a wearable wristband, called a Power Up Band.
