Universal Studios Hollywood has announced the opening date of The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!. The new ride boasts 64 animatronics inspired by Illumination’s film, The Secret Life of Pets.

The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash! opens at Universal Studios Hollywood on March 27. It will feature 64 technologically-advanced animated figures.

The animatronic figures of some of the most popular characters have a range of movements, creating a totally unique experience.

In addition, hyper-realistic media and projection mapping fully immerse guests as they travel in cardboard boxes across New York City.

The ride also boasts state-of-the-art optical enhanced gesture-tracking technology, which helps to identify each guest as one of 15 stray puppies.

The innovative experience invites guests to assume the roles of stray puppies looking for their forever homes at a pet adoption event.

It will be located on Pets Place, previously called Baker Street, adjacent to ‘Despicable Me Minion Mayhem’ and ‘Super Silly Fun Land’.

Meanwhile, guests can access a ‘Virtual Line’ via the official Universal Studios Hollywood app, available in the App Store and Google Play or at the Virtual Line kiosk in the NYC subway station.

Visitors will take on the role of a stray puppy

Virtual Line will be implemented as needed, and allows visitors to explore Pets Place, which features store front facades and the aforementioned subway station.

It also includes Katie’s NYC apartment building, Buddy’s apartment, Molly’s living room, and Max and Duke’s apartment.

The Secret Life of Pets cast will reprise their roles in Universal Studios Hollywood‘s new ride, including Tiffany Haddish, Patton Oswalt, Kevin Hart, Eric Stonestreet and Steve Coogan.

Elsewhere, Universal Orlando Resort’s major theme park project, Universal’s Epic Universe, will feature a Super Nintendo World when it opens in 2023.
