The Franklin Institute, Comcast NBCUniversal and MDSX have released the first renderings of a new Universal theme parks exhibition to launch next year.
Universal Theme Parks: The Exhibition is opening on 14 February 2026 at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia.
It was created in partnership with MDSX, an award-winning experience design, media production and creative management agency.

The exhibition is described as an immersive and interactive exploration into the innovation and storytelling showcased across Universal’s theme parks.
It spans 18,000 square feet and features eight themed galleries, 25 interactive experiences, and more than 100 original artefacts from attractions themed to Jurassic World, How to Train Your Dragon, and Universal Monsters.
On view will be animatronics, robotics, props, ride designs, costumes, and special effects.
Abby Bysshe, chief experience and strategy officer at the Franklin Institute, said: “This first-of-its-kind exhibition is an immersive showcase of the innovation and imagination behind theme park creation and demonstrates our commitment to delivering exceptional experiences with global audience appeal.”
Immersive exhibition explores theme park design
Highlights include an immersive experience that puts guests inside Universal’s greatest attractions, and a space to discover the technology powering the parks and rides.
Another area lets visitors build coasters, design monster masks, and programme animated figures using real theme park tools and technology.
“At Universal, we are known for creating mind-blowing attractions and experiences that shatter guest expectations, and for those wondering how we do it, this engaging exhibit offers an in-depth look that celebrates the talents of our team,” said Gerald Raines, senior VP of global LBE entertainment and licensing at Universal Destinations & Experiences.

Raines added, “We’re proud to partner with the Franklin Institute to share the innovation, artistry, and technical expertise we use to bring beloved stories and characters to life for the millions of guests visiting our destinations each year.”
