THG Creative, an agency specialising in developing attractions for theme parks, museums and brands, has announced that Scott Sinclair, its executive director of design, has been honoured by the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) as a 2025 TEA Master of Their Craft.
The accolade, which recognises people who have made a major and lasting difference to the global themed entertainment industry, was celebrated at the TEA SATE North America conference this October at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, California.
Sinclair brings more than 30 years of creative leadership and design innovation to the industry, having shaped world‑class attractions, cultural experiences, and immersive brand environments globally.
His work exemplifies the blend of storytelling and design artistry that characterises the best in themed entertainment.
An impressive portfolio
Sinclair's design and drawing skills are unparalleled, grounded in a clear vision and boundless imagination, balanced by a respectful understanding of real-world constraints such as budget, site, and capacity. Throughout his career, he has led the creative development of several groundbreaking projects.
These include redesigning Walt Disney World’s Tomorrowland, forming the original concept team for Tokyo DisneySea, and creating the interactive dark ride, Dragons Wild Shooting, at Lotte World. He also contributed to Ski Dubai, an indoor ski resort, and worked on projects for Sony Metreon in San Francisco and Mediage in Tokyo.
Additionally, he played a role in developing the Science Fiction Museum & Hall of Fame in Seattle.
He has also worked with notable cultural figures such as Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen on his Flying Heritage Collection and acclaimed author-illustrator Maurice Sendak, helping clients achieve experiences beyond their expectations.
Scott Sinclair and THG Creative
At THG Creative, Sinclair heads interdisciplinary teams comprising designers, illustrators, production specialists, and technologists in creating emotionally resonant experiences for audiences around the world.
His induction as a 2025 TEA Master highlights THG Creative’s leadership in design and its culture of mentorship, innovation, and global‑scale impact in the experiential design industry.

Aside from his creative work, he is known for his mentorship and generous nature. Whether teaching at Cal State Long Beach or mentoring interns at THG, he has always supported and guided the next generation of designers.
He personally creates intern art challenges, assesses progress, and offers career guidance. His commitment to giving back goes beyond the workplace; Sinclair has volunteered his talents for community art initiatives, children’s hospitals, and local creative programmes.
Although he frequently operates behind the scenes, his significant influence on the themed entertainment industry is unmistakable. His work consistently demonstrates his value, inspiring colleagues and mentees through his subtle leadership, mentorship, and example-setting.
"An inspiration"
Phil Hettema, CEO at THG Creative, says: “Scott’s recognition as a TEA Master is a tremendous milestone, one that reflects not just his extraordinary design legacy, but the deep influence he has had on our studio and the next generation of creators.
"I have had the privilege of working alongside Scott for 40 years, and his creative clarity, mentorship and passion for guest‑centered storytelling continue to raise the bar for THG and the industry.”
Erik Neegaard, chief creative officer at THG Creative, adds: “I have had the pleasure of working with Scott, on and off, for almost 30 years. He has long been an inspiration to me and the team at THG Creative.
"His incredible ability to weave guest-journeys with imaginative visuals and immersive storytelling has had an indelible impact on our industry. He understands the complete design through production process and continues to practice his craft with endless enthusiasm.
"Scott's leadership is a guiding light here at THG, and this honor is deeply deserved.”
This summer, THG Creative celebrated its first year in its Orlando office. During this time, the studio has cemented its position as a strategic hub for clients in the themed entertainment industry worldwide.
