Acquisition by Apollo

On December 16, 2009, Cedar Fair agreed to be acquired by an affiliate of Apollo Global Management.

… Upon completion of the merger, Cedar Fair will become a private company, wholly owned by an affiliate of Apollo Global Management.

… the Merger Agreement contains a provision to the effect that the Company may solicit alternative acquisition proposals until January 25, 2010.

Attendance ups and downs

For the FY ending December 31, 2008, attendance for all Cedar fair parks was 22.72 million and per capita spending was $40.13.

… attendance increased from  22.11 million in 2007 to 22.72 million in 2008.

… but for the first 10 months of 2009, despite an additional 25 operating days during the first nine months of 2009, attendance for the Cedar Park properties fell 6 % when compared with the same period a year ago.

Revenues

Net revenues were derived as follows: 56.9 % from admissions; 35.7 % from food, merchandise and games; 7.4 % from hotel rooms, food and other attractions outside the park. 

… per capita spending decreased from $40.60 in 2007 to $40.13 in 2008.
