3D/4D Theater: Familiepark Drievliet to add Simworx ‘5D’ effects theatre for 2009 season

News

New turnkey project adds more family entertainment to Dutch park

UK based 4D effects theatre and simulation attraction specialist Simworx is to supply a ‘5D’ effects theatre to the Dutch theme park Familiepark Drievliet in time for the main summer season.

Following on from several other openings for 2009, this latest turnkey project features the conversion of the park’s old Cine 180 dome building to house the theatre which accommodates Simworx’s 5D seats incorporating multi-directional movement, along with a range of special effects. These will include leg ticklers, air blast, water spray and aroma, all of which will enhance the visual experience provided.

A raised grandstand seating platform will be utilised in the theatre, along with a Christie HD 3D projection system, a 3D screen and surround sound, while additional in theatre 4D effects will include bubbles, low smoke and special effects lighting.

The award winning film Curse of Skull Rock, used in a number of recently opened Simworx effects theatres, has been chosen by the park as the main feature for the season, and with an opening date for the new attraction planned for July, Simworx Managing Director Terry Monkton expressed his delight at the continued popularity of his company’s effects theatres.

“We are currently enjoying a great deal of success in various parts of the world with our theatres, ” he said, “and the Drievliet project is another example of us being able to provide a full turnkey theatre which I am sure will be very well received by the park’s guests. Our effects theatres are great family attractions with good capacity, and provide excellent entertainment for all ages. I’m sure this will prove a great addition to Drievliet’s range of attractions and facilities.”

Curse of Skull Rock is a fun, humorous, 12-minute tale in full HD 3D projection which tells the story of the treacherous Captain Scabb who takes his unwitting crew on a search for the legendary lost treasure of Skull Rock.
