ICOM UK, the UK national committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), has opened membership for 2027. Membership links museum professionals in the UK to a global network, creating opportunities to share expertise, develop partnerships and represent the sector with a collective voice.
Membership is valid for the 2027 calendar year, from January through December. Renewals and new applications are accepted until 30 April 2027. Museum professionals who wish to benefit fully from their membership in 2027 are encouraged to apply early.
"An exciting time to join"
Kristina Broughton, strategic director of ICOM UK, says: “2027 is an exciting time to join ICOM as we celebrate our 80th year as a global museum network.
"ICOM UK are also excited to be bringing members together in Cardiff in April for our annual conference, Gwydnwch/Resilience: Museums adapting to change in a complex world. The theme reflects how museums around the world are responding to the complex challenges of our time and is therefore particularly relevant for our members.
"We warmly invite museum professionals, at every career stage, to become a member and enjoy the benefits of being part of ICOM’s global community of museum professionals.”
Membership benefits include membership of up to four of ICOM's 35 International Committees, as well as discounted or free entry to museums, galleries and exhibitions in the UK and worldwide with an ICOM membership card.
Members can also access the ICOM UK Bursary Scheme and get access to, and discounts on, ICOM and ICOM UK conferences and partner events. Plus, they receive ICOM News, ICOM's monthly digital magazine, alongside regular bulletins from ICOM UK about international opportunities.

The International Council of Museums has also announced the first details for the ICOM UK 2027 Annual Conference. It will take place from 29 to 30 April 2027 at National Museum Cardiff in Wales.
The event will explore the theme Gwydnwch/Resilience: Museums Adapting to Change in a Complex World, asking how museums globally can deliver on their missions and maintain public trust while evolving and innovating in response to new, unpredictable challenges.
