Under the theme Gwydnwch/Resilience: Museums Adapting to Change in a Complex World, the ICOM UK 2027 two-day event will bring together museum and heritage professionals to consider how the sector can evolve in response to financial, social, environmental and technological change.
Sessions will examine how museums can develop more sustainable ways of working, strengthen relationships with their communities and prepare for unexpected challenges. The programme will also consider the long-term protection and sharing of collections, culture and knowledge.
Discussion will span areas including funding and governance, community partnerships, climate resilience, emerging technologies, conservation, repatriation and new approaches to sharing knowledge.
The conference is being co-produced with Ngaire Blankenberg, founding director of the Institute for Creative Repair, and A42, and will provide opportunities for museum professionals to exchange experiences, ideas and practical approaches to building resilience across the sector.
