Alterface and Clostermann Design join forces to create a new type of haunted house

News

Combining Clostermann Design’s recognized know-how in the construction of animatronics and themed scenery with Alterface’s expertise in interactivity, this interactive haunted house aims to offer fans of this type of popular attraction some thrilling new sensations.

Based on an original idea from Alterface, the Belgian company and Clostermann Design have joined forces to launch a project that will build a multimedia and interactive haunted house. This attraction will bring together the best achievements of these two highly complementary companies.

The adrenalin flowing in the veins of up to 30 spectators will be taken to boiling point, thanks to a spectacle that combines special effects, animatronics and interactive 3D video images. In a large room, sitting in comfortable effect armchairs fixed to a revolving platform, the players/spectators will experience all-round stimulation of their senses and lose their spatial awareness as the platform rotates. This interactive haunted house will open doors to astonishing worlds – ones that will evolve as the story unfolds and in line with the audience’s interaction.

Clostermann Design, well known in the field of theming and the design of sophisticated animatronics, will create scenery that plunges spectators into the unnerving environment of a huge home that is packed with surprises! Alterface will add all its know-how in terms of smart interactivity between a large group of players and the films projected. This new kind of hybrid attraction will combine the comfort of an interactive 4D cinema with all the thrills of a dark ride. It could be set up in a themed zone or as a stand-alone attraction.

“Our first interactive haunted house idea was immediately received with great enthusiasm at Clostermann Design, when we proposed this collaboration, ” says Benoit Cornet, CEO of Alterface. “The combination of our know-how with that of a partner as famous as Clostermann Design has given rise to an ambitious project which should surprise and charm the many fans of this type of attraction.”

“Alterface is the ideal partner. It is qualified and reliable, and able to create the images and interactivity that will perfectly complete the theater that we will create, ” adds Matthias Clostermann, CEO of Clostermann Design. “Alterface adds the technical dimension to make this haunted house a real event in the world of video entertainment.”

A promising model of the attraction has already been produced and exhibited at Alterface’s booth at the IAAPA Attractions Expo 2008 that took place in Orlando last week. The project received a warm welcome from the professionals and the fans who discovered it as a world premiere.
