Amusement Parks: Aquatics Leader Recognizes Hersheypark Blooloop

Aquatics International magazine recently announced the 11 winners of the 2009 “Best of Aquatics” awards. Hersheypark was among the aquatics facilities chosen in the annual contest, which celebrates outstanding government, non-profit and privately owned facilities.

“The awards are that much more special because they are judged by a panel of peers, ” said Aquatics International editor Gary Thill. “Competition for these awards is fierce, so these facilities really are the best of the best.”

All entries were judged by an independent panel of five industry experts. Judges considered factors including programming, promotional materials, aquatic amenities and community involvement. The winners will be recognized in a special “Best of Aquatics” supplement to the November/ December 2009 issue of Aquatics International.

For the 2009 season, Hersheypark expanded The Boardwalk at Hersheypark, which opened in celebration of the Park’s centennial season in 2007, to include two new additions – “The Shore, ” a wave pool, and “Intercoastal Waterway, ” a “lazy river” attraction.
