Amusement Parks: Flamingo Land Resort eases the queuing pain for visitors with Text-Q ride reservation system from Lo-Q

News

Lo-Q plc, the leading supplier of virtual queuing systems to theme parks, has signed an agreement with Flamingo Land Resort for the installation of its Text-Q ride reservation system.  Flamingo Land is the largest theme park and zoo in the UK.

The Text-Q system allows mobile phone users to reserve their place in line on their preferred rides, from anywhere in the park.  Visitors purchase credits which they use to obtain places in a virtual queue.  The ride times are advised using the SMS service so Text-Q users are given more time to enjoy other areas of the park while they wait.

Gordon Gibb, chief executive officer of Flamingo Land Ltd said, “Our customers tell us that the most negative issue in regards to visiting a Theme Park is queuing and queuing times.  With the fantastic technology that Lo-Q provide Flamingo Land, we are able to remove one of the only obstacles which may prevent some potential customers from visiting us.  Together with 2009 being the year of the ‘stay-cation’ we are confident that we will have a terrific season.”

The agreement with Flamingo Land also covers technical assistance, training and support along with software updates and maintenance.

Colin Robertson of Lo-Q said, “Flamingo Land attracts a wide range of people and is particularly popular with young families.  Lo-Q solutions reduce queuing times with a view to enhancing the whole theme park experience.  With so much to see at Flamingo Land we are sure the new technology will help make the theme park and zoo an even more desirable destination.
We see Flamingo Land as the first of many theme parks who will utilise the Text-Q’s solution. Smaller attractions and commercial facilities, such as, airports, and stadiums, etc. embrace this technology.”

The installation of Text-Q at Flamingo Land is due to be completed during April 2009.
