On December 1st 2009, to mark the UAE’s 38th National Day the following day, thousands of performers took part in a parade which transformed Downtown Burj Dubai into a sea of four colours.
Forming part of the procession, along with stilt walkers, musicians and huge inflatable floats, were eight costume characters – the United Arab Emirates’ Flag (pictured), an Eagle, a Teapot, a Cello, a Drum, a Saxophone, a Xylophone and a Conductor.
After creating various costumes on behalf of client Saltimbanco Italiano for events such as the DSS Festival and the EID Carnival, Rainbow Productions were again commissioned to bring the colourful characters to life for this historical day.
The parade was attended by royal families, government officials and dignitaries who, along with the public, witnessed the unfolding of the history, culture and modernisation of the UAE during the celebrations.
