Christie Hussey has been named Director of Sales and Membership at Discovery Place Inc.
As Director of Sales and Membership, Hussey oversees all group sales, special event rentals, Membership sales and service and call center sales and activities at Discovery Place and Charlotte Nature Museum. Hussey will report to Debra Smul, vice president of marketing and communications for Discovery Place.
Hussey brings more than 10 years of corporate sales experience to Discovery Place. Prior to joining the Museum, Hussey served as director of group sales for the NBA Charlotte Bobcats where she oversaw the group sales department for Charlotte Bobcats and Time Warner Cable Arena.
“We are delighted to have Christie join us and bring her wealth of experience and successful track record in ticket and event sales to Discovery Place, ” said Smul. “I am confident that she will develop and elevate the Museum’s group sales and Membership program to the next level as we prepare to showcase all new exhibits and experiences after the renovation.”
In addition to her work for the NBA Charlotte Bobcats, Hussey held positions managing sales, operations and season tickets for the Arena Football League Carolina Cobras as vice president of sales & operations and as sales manager for the NBA Charlotte Hornets & WNBA Charlotte Sting.
