The Supervisory Board of Compagnie des Alpes unanimously named Dominique Marcel as Chairman of the Management Board of Compagnie des Alpes as of October 1, 2008.
Under the leadership of Jean-Pierre Sonois, who has led the Company since its creation in 1989, Compagnie des Alpes has become a European leader in leisure activities. With its two business lines, ski areas and leisure parks, the Company has acquired a strong and uncontested strategic position.The Company has also met objectives as defined by its shareholders.
Listed on the Eurolist market of NYSE Euronext and included in the CAC mid 100 index, CDA is a solid group, both in terms of the quality of its expertise and of its financial structure. It was awarded the AGEFI prize for best corporate governance (midcaps category), presented in 2007 to Jean-Pierre Sonois and Dominique Marcel, which illustrates the success of their shared approach to corporate management.
Dominique Marcel has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of CDA since June 2005. As such, he contributed significantly to the growth of the company, especially through his experience and vital support of the Management Board during the major development operations carried out by the Group in 2006 (acquisition of StarParks) and in 2007 (Sofival). He will focus on optimizing the economic model of Compagnie des Alpes in order to place the Group on a track of long-term value-creation, while respecting the interests of all stakeholders (shareholders, employees, local municipalities, etc.).
Jean-Pierre Sonois will remain as advisor to the Chairman so that the Company may continue to benefit from his experience and experience a smooth transition.
