Family Entertainment: Spinnaker Tower to light up in Haiti’s colours

News

Starting from this evening, the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth will be lit up in the red and blue colours of Haiti’s national flag, in support of the international relief efforts following the country’s devastating earthquake.

The move comes following an appeal from the CN Tower in Canada, who themselves have taken the steps of illuminating their famous building in the colours of the Haitian national flag, and have asked iconic towers from around the world to do the same.

Paul Mahy, Commercial Manager for Spinnaker Tower said, “The scenes we are witnessing on television are truly horrific, and we want to lend support to the international relief effort which is ongoing.  We want to show the people of Haiti that our thoughts are with them and we’d like to help support where we can.  The Tower’s lights will be lit up in red and blue for a week and we have teamed up with Oxfam to ask every visitor to make a small donation in order to help them with their ongoing relief efforts.”

Oxfam are one of many charities currently working tirelessly to help the people of Haiti.  To make a donation please call 0300 200 1300 or visit www.oxfam.org.uk

The Spinnaker Tower is open daily from 10am (excluding Christmas Day).
