Giant Pumpkins, Halloween Costumes and Magic: Tivoli 2008

News

Halloween in Tivoli has quickly become a tradition, so of course the Gardens will again be open during the Danish schools’ autumn mid-term break in 2008! Opening hours from 10–19 October: Friday–Saturday 10.00 – 23.00 and Sunday–Thursday 10.00 – 22.00.

The Gardens will be decorated with pumpkins, scarecrows and all the other trimmings required for creating the right Halloween atmosphere for the whole family. Tivoli’s Halloween is based on the “horrific fun” principle, so even the youngest children can participate. Every day you can meet Tivoli’s witches and heroes (Harlequin, Pierrot and Columbine) on the Halloween Square by the Open Air Stage where the big mill is located and see them march through Tivoli with the Pumpkin Band (the Tivoli Boys Guard). At the square it will be possible to carve your own jack-o-lantern and buy sundry goodies.

Tivoli’s 25 rides will be running, also accompanied by three winter guests: the Music Carrousel, The Swing Carrousel, and the Chinese Lantern.T
The Magic Show featuring Tivoli’s witches is a new programme event on the Open Air Stage, and last year’s rock ‘n’ roll dance show will also be back here. Adventures in Tivoli is a tour of the Gardens for the whole family including wonderful stories and activities for the youngest family members. DKK 50 for a family of up to five. The tour lasts about one hour.

The popular Fairytale Theatre, where children and youths present musical theatre for the whole family, will again be performing in the Glass Hall Theatre. Mastodonterne will perform Sebastian’s musical “Cyrano” in the Concert Hall.
The Danish Championships for Giant Pumpkins will be moved to Tivoli on Saturday 11 October. For a number of years now, the competition has been held in other locations. Now it is moving to Tivoli where the winning pumpkins will be chosen on Saturday 11 October at 11.00 and be on display for the rest of the season.

Children who feel like coming dressed up in a Halloween costume can participate in a contest to find the day’s funniest, best and wildest costume. A winner will be chosen every day at 3 p.m. The contest is held in cooperation with BR, and the maximum age is 12 years.
The entire programme of events for Halloween in Tivoli will be ready on 22 September at tivoli.dk.
