Hong Kong Disneyland Announces a Year-long “Celebration in the Air” All-new Entertainment Experience to Fill the Year of 2011 with Big Wows

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort announces Celebration in the Air – a year-long celebration beginning January 21, 2011 to mark this memorable 5th year milestone with a new era of magic.

Featuring the debut of Flights of Fantasy Parade with the iconic centerpiece of Tinker Bell’s Pixie Dusted Castle, the Guests will enjoy an all-new entertainment experience beyond their imagination. Tinker Bell will have her first appearance in Hong Kong Disneyland. Along with Sorcerer Mickey, the duo will shower the entire resort with pixie dust that magnifies the magic. From everyone’s beloved Disney friends’ in their all-new themed costumes, resort-wide celebration offerings including food and beverage, merchandise assortments and hotel activities, to the finest details of atmospheric deco. A newly created campaign theme song and cast member name tags will complete the vision. The 5, 000 cast members are ready to bring to Guests a celebration year like no other.

“We have been here in our home city of Hong Kong since September 2005 and welcomed over 20 million Guests from around the globe to experience the magic of Disney. I’m thrilled to see how our Resort has grown in the past five years, but that doesn’t stop us from always finding new and creative ways to delight our Guests, " said Andrew Kam, Managing Director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.

"Our Guests are always at the heart of everything we do. Throughout the years, we have learned about what they like from our daily operations and gained a lot of consumer insights. An array of Disney’s creative talents from both the United States and Hong Kong started putting their heads together 18 months ago to come up with and produce the Celebration in the Air entertainment content.” Kam added. “It is surely something not to be missed in 2011, both for our local Guests and visitors to Hong Kong."

Disney on Parade and other seasonal parades have always been among the Guests’ top favorite entertainment shows in Hong Kong Disneyland. The dazzling excitement will reach new heights as Flights of Fantasy Parade brings the performance stage up to 40 feet high. Featuring 24 beloved Disney characters and more than 100 performers, this all-new, highly interactive parade will take flight every day on the Main Street U.S.A.

Leading the way is Mickey’s Magical Airship followed by Stitch’s surfing dudes, Jungle Book monkeys, Toy Story parachuting soldiers and more. Many of the characters will appear to be floating on air with big inflatable balloons and puppets. Flights of Fantasy Parade also takes interactivity to new heights – Guests will be invited to dance along with Disney’s most innovative parade ever!

Sleeping Beauty Castle, the Park’s icon, will become a dramatic centerpiece for Celebration in the Air. Tinker Bell will shower it with her magical fairy dust, transforming it into Tinker Bell’s Pixie Dusted Castle. By day, it glistens as the golden pixie dust sparkles and shimmers in the sun. By night, it magically illuminates, adding a rousing spectacle every night beginning January 21, 2011 for the rest of the year.  

"We are witnessing a perfect harmony of Disney’s creativity and great craftsmanship as Tinker Bell’s Pixie Dusted Castle is being transformed. It is an iconic architectural art installation in the Park that Guests should not miss seeing this year, " added Wong.

Tinker Bell is thrilled to make her debut at Hong Kong Disneyland. In her own magical garden newly built in Fantasyland, she will meet and greet her fans. Not only will Mickey and his pals have their all-new 5th anniversary celebration outfits, all our Cast Members will wear a special commemorative name tag welcoming Guests every day at the Resort.

Be sure to check out at the merchandise shops where the new 5th anniversary series will carry a total of 200 commemorative items. A brand new Center Street Boutique featuring 200 chic items is scheduled to open on the same day that Celebration in the Air kicks off.   More surprises await as Guests enjoy fabulous food in special themed packaging, which also becomes take home souvenirs!

From January 21 to February 26, families staying in the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel can complete their magical day with Disney’s Story Time. Available at HK$168, from 8pm to 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays, the fascinating Story Tellers will keep our little Guests captivated as they share favorite Disney tales. A Kodak moment of a surprise visit from a Disney friend and more wonderful delights will surely bring sweet memories to the whole family before bedtime.
