Innovative Leisure installs first indoor Rope-A-Phobia

News

UK based Innovative Leisure Ltd., which specialises in a range of interactive family attractions, has installed the first indoor version of its popular Rope-A-Phobia high ropes course.

The attraction is now entertaining children and adults at the new GoKidsGo indoor children’s play centre in Leicester, UK, which opened in mid-March. The 10, 000 sq. ft. venue features a range of activities including bumper cars, a large play frame structure and the Rope-A-Phobia, along with another Innovative Leisure product, a Coconut Tree Climb climbing attraction.

“We decided to include the Rope-A-Phobia as it is an interesting and challenging activity for older children, ” commented GoKidsGo owner Guy Baker. “We have aimed to cater for children up to the age of 12 so it is ideal for this age group and has proved very popular.”

The centre runs Rope-A-Phobia with two members of staff and allows up to six children at any one time to go through. All the activities are included in the entrance fee at GoKidsGo and guests can utilise the attractions subject to specified height restrictions. At peak times a two hour time limit is imposed.

Rope-A-Phobia has proved a very successful addition to the Innovative Leisure product range since its introduction to the European market in the latter half of 2006. The multi-activity, high ropes attraction provides participants with the opportunity to take part in a number of activities approximately 4m. from the ground. Having first clambered up a rope net at one end of the unit and been hooked onto a safety harness, participants then work their way through a total of eight interchangeable elements incorporated into the experience, each of which challenges all ages and can be changed if required to provide different thrills. Easy to set up and maintain, it is ideal for both static sites and mobile operators, and can accommodate up to six customers at a time. The duration of the activity is flexible and modified according to peak and off peak times.

Commenting on this latest installation, Innovative Leisure Managing Director Phil Pickersgill said: “This is the first indoor installation of Rope-A-Phobia we have completed and we are delighted with the results. It fits very well with the overall offering at GoKidsGo and provides a fun, challenging activity for older children who may be visiting with their younger siblings. As an observer watching it operate it is very clear how effective and exciting the mix is for 6-12 year olds. It also offers adventurous parents something out of the ordinary!

“It’s not easy to find the perfect marketing formula for children’s play centres these days. Operators have a real challenge on their hands in being able to satisfy a range of requirements by providing a suitable mix of attractions to cater for as wide a market as possible – to ensure success. We are seeing a trend in the market for more all inclusive pricing strategies. The model at GoKidsGo is very interesting and we are very happy that this includes two of our products. We wish Guy Baker every success with his new venture.”
