Exhibitors from around the world enjoy success at this year’s entertainment expo

The 16th edition of the Dubai Entertainment, Amusement and Leisure (DEAL) expo, taking place this week at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), is showcasing a range of international products with companies exhibiting from around the world.

“This year’s show represents our largest ever geographical spread, with exhibitors coming from Europe, Asia and beyond. This points to the growing importance of Dubai and the Middle East as a family entertainment hub, ” said Abdul Rehman Falaknaz, President of International Expo Consults (IEC), organisers of DEAL 2010.

Themebuilders from the Philippines returns to the show this year after a successful outing in 2009. According to John Swarte Broecrx, CEO, the show provides an ideal opportunity to infiltrate markets such as Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, as well as the UAE.

“Our regular presence creates awareness for our company and the fact Philippine craftsmanship is known worldwide as one of the best, coupled with a very attractive price tag, ” Broecrx said.

The company recently fitted out the Baroue Kid’s Kingdom in Kuwait, a giant indoor playground built around the theme of the sea.

“We are showcasing a new system and high standard material that is affordable for the price-conscious. We are also showing samples of ‘magnified’ insects – an extension of last years’ life size figures, which we exhibited at DEAL.”

Themebuilders’ products include an oversized banana, Walnut ?Man and a rubber heart, which people can touch.

From Italy, Technical Park is showcasing its extreme rides.

“We believe the DEAL show is a strategic meeting point because we strongly want to be seen as a reliable supplier of family and extreme rides in the Middle East, ” said Marco Grigolo, Sales Manager, Technical Park.

“We have exhibited in the past and our company is honoured to be the supplier of a giant pendulum-motion amusement ride for Zawraa Park in Iraq.

“This week we are promoting the new Baby Aviator, a suspended junior coaster with water shoots, excellent for water parks, and the new Loop Fighter, a pendulum with swing over.”

UK mascot companyRainbow Productions is returning to DEAL for the fourth time.

“It has taken us time to better understand the needs of the territory and its unique demands and we feel that the company is now beginning to make huge inroads into the market. We are seeing a dramatic rise in the demand for high-quality costume characters, ” said Simon Foulkes, Sales and Marketing Director at Rainbow Productions.

“Over recent years Rainbow Productions has developed a number of working relationships with clients in the region and I’m delighted to say that this has resulted in us working with partners to deliver promotional costumes for use on a range of projects; examples include government campaigns, at leisure attractions and on behalf of licensing and events companies. While there is still huge potential for us in the DEAL region, I’m pleased to say that we have exceeded our original goals. We’re proud to be considered the number one costume character manufacturer in the Middle East”.

Substantial industry support for DEAL is given by the Amusement Industry Council of Europe, including Association Fabricantes Y Exp. Maquinas de la Foia de Bunyol (Spain) Associazone Nazionale Costruttori Attrezzature, Spettcoli Viaggianti (Italy); Amusement & Leisure Equipment Suppliers of the UK; American Amusement Manufacturers Association); International Association for the Leisure & Entertainment Industries; India Association of Amusement Parks & Industries; and the World Water Park Association.
