One superlative follows the other at this year’s World Expo in Shanghai, which will take place from May 1 to October 31, 2010, attracting about 70 million visitors from all over the world. 200 participants will present their country or organization themed “Better City, Bettter Life” and inspire the global audience.

The Aviation Pavilion – a project of the China Aviation Industry Corporation and China Eastern Airlines – was realized by the Austrian media specialist Kraftwerk Living Technologies GmbH. Next to a preview to the future of flying the pavilion offers a presentation of the most advanced entertainment
technologies.

As a pro for complex projections Kraftwerk Living Technologies was the responsible company for development and construction of a range of different 2D and 3D installations. Already in the Preshow visitors find a round ceiling projection made of acrylic with a laminated rear as well as a panorama projection. The wagons of the following DarkRide are installed on induction loops, whereby the optical impression is still enhanced. Due to an exact positioning of the wagons and precise special  effects like wind, rain, fog, scent, LN2 jets visitors’ emotions are further intensified

"During the conception and realization of the projections as well as the installation and programming of special effects and sound system we concentrated on stimulating all customers’ senses. Brilliant pictures, a perfect acoustic and the implementation of special effects intensify the attraction and make the story of aviation and its future very exciting”, says Franz Moser, project manager at Kraftwerk Living Technologies GmbH.

3D projections and the 10 meters 2D tunnel projections create a virtual room and make the attraction even more realistic. Kraftwerk Living Technologies used 12 high-quality projectors with 7.000 Ansi Lumen each at the tunnel projection. To counteract possible perspective distortions Kraftwerk Living Technologies installed a special blending and warping software. At the 115 m² panorama projection screen six projectors with 10.000 Ansi Lumen each create brilliant pictures. Due to its height of 4.7 meters and a visual field of more than 180° the visitors has the feeling of being in the middle in the center.

The Aviation Pavilion is one of the highlights at the World Expo 2010 and will present the slogan “Better City, Better Life” perfectly.
