In 2002, Mirage Entertainment exploded the concept of a waterski show in Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey. Its show, “Bad to the Bone” literally blew up the venue with extreme water-skiers, jet skiers, sky skiers, wake-boarders, flame effects, pyrotechnics, high dives and jaw-dropping boat patterns.
In the cornfields of the Midwest, fifteen hundred miles away, Indiana Beach Amusement Park and Camping Resort has hosted the world’s longest running water-ski show for over half a century. In 2004, Mirage Entertainment brought “Bad to the Bone” to the shores of Lake Shafer to forever change water-ski show production.
The 20-minute show features eleven professional aquatic performers in an exhibition of freestyle water skiing and aerial acrobatics from an 85-foot high platform. Year after year, audiences hail the water and aerial spectacular as one of the staple summer traditions of Indiana Beach.
Mirage wrapped its 8th season at the park on August 22nd. Despite the many inherent challenges a public lake presents (such as high wakes, floating debris and other safety hazards), in the words of David Draves from Mirage Entertainment, “It’s not about overcoming all the challenges this venue offers, it’s about embracing them. We use these natural elements to our advantage, in creating one of the top rated extreme water shows, anywhere!"
Mirage is already in production, planning new aquatic action elements, for next year at the Indiana Beach boardwalk.
