The 22nd annual European Network of Science Centres and Museums Conference (ECSITE) will run from 26th to the 28th of May 2011 in Warsaw, Poland.

Acknowledged as one of the world’s leading Museum and Science Centre professionals, Professor Mike Bruton (see image right) will speak on the challenges and rewards of creating a new science museum in Saudi Arabia. Recently, the multidisciplinary team at MTE Studios delivered turnkey a museum on Islamic Science for the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia. Based on this experience, Professor Bruton of MTE Studios will provide an overview of the experience in developing a new interactive science museum on a university campus in Saudi Arabia. He will also touch upon key areas and efforts which went into developing and finally delivering the turnkey project.

“We have been in this industry for over 11 years, and have gained invaluable experience in the conceptualization, design, manufacture and installation of turn-key interactive museums, as well as traveling exhibitions. Mike’s participation at the ECSITE conference reflects of our strong commitment towards building the future of museums in the region. As market leaders in turnkey museums, it is the perfect platform for us to network with our partners and industry peers, ” said Ludo Verheyen, CEO, MTE Studios.

“The development of the museum in Saudi Arabia required careful consideration of Muslim attitudes towards the history and meaning of science and policies on language and sensitive issues. This was achieved by developing mutually agreed sub themes, storylines and take-home messages through frequent multi-cultural discussions, exhaustive scientific and social research, and an anonymous peer review system, ” said Professor Bruton.

MTE Studios, creators of ‘1000 Years of Knowledge Rediscovered’ permanent exhibition on display within the Ibn Battuta Mall in Dubai also played a major role in the design, manufacture and installation of numerous interactive exhibits at the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, The company is also known worldwide for their global travelling exhibition, ‘Sultans of Science’, which has been showcased at the MTN Sciencentre in Cape Town, South Africa; the Liberty Science Center in New Jersey, USA; Ontario Science Center in Canada and The TELUS World Of Science in Edmonton, Canada.
